What happened
Sharaf knocked Steveson out with a punch at 0:12 of round one, the third-fastest knockout in UFC heavyweight history. Steveson left the cage quickly afterwards. Daniel Cormier called that out on the broadcast: "You stand there and you take your lick whenever you lose." He added that "you cannot be a great winner but then an ungrateful loser, and I think that was bad by Steveson."
Steveson won Olympic freestyle gold at 125kg in Tokyo 2020 and two NCAA titles at Minnesota. He was in WWE from 2021 to 2024, then signed by the Buffalo Bills with no football background and released before the season. He debuted in MMA in September 2025 and was 4-0, every win a first-round KO or TKO. Sports Illustrated's verdict was that he had been "pushed too quickly".
Sharaf is 33, from Santa Ana, and a US Marine per Yahoo. He came in 0-2 in the UFC on a two-fight losing streak, both by TKO. "I believed in myself when nobody believed in myself," he said after. He also drew the line himself: "I was 4-0 undefeated when I had my first loss in the UFC. He just had his first loss." He collected three separate bonuses.

Yahoo reported Steveson favoured as high as -1800; DraftKings settled at -2400.
