How the Kalshi referral bonus actually works
Most pages about this shout a dollar figure. Kalshi does not publish one, and the rules that decide whether you keep the money are the parts nobody prints: a 72-hour window, a trading requirement, and a credit that expires in seven days.
The short version
Sign up through a referral link, verify your identity, and trade enough to meet the requirement shown in your Rewards section. Kalshi then credits a bonus whose size depends on your account. Spend it within seven days or you lose it, and understand that the credit itself cannot be withdrawn: only what you make trading it can.

Why the numbers you see elsewhere disagree
Search this topic and you will find $10, $25, $55 and “up to $1,000” on different pages, all published within days of each other. They are not all lying. Large media sites run negotiated partner codes with their own terms, which is a different program from the one attached to an ordinary personal referral link. That is also why a code you saw on a national sports site may not behave the way its article described once it is in your account.
We are not going to add another number to that pile. We don’t publish a referral code. If a friend who uses Kalshi shares theirs, these are the rules, and the amount it produces is whatever Kalshi has attached to your account on the day you sign up.

No. The original referral credit is not withdrawable. You can trade with it, and profits you make trading it become withdrawable cash, but the credit itself cannot be cashed out.
Can I enter a Kalshi referral code after I have already signed up?
Only inside a narrow window. Kalshi's FAQ says you must sign up through a referral link or add a valid code within 72 hours of creating your account and before your first deposit, whichever comes first, with the window counted from your first login. Deposit before you enter a code and you have missed it.
