How it happened

The result

Joanderson Brito beat Giga Chikadze by knockout at 1:57 of round one at UFC 331 on September 19, 2026, in the featherweight bout that opened the card. Brito took a $25,000 finish bonus. It was his third straight win and Chikadze's fourth straight loss.

Brito needed one minute and fifty-seven seconds. He dropped Chikadze with strikes and the referee waved it off in the first round, the fastest finish of a card that produced several. It was the opening bout of the night and it set the tone for an evening where five of twelve underdogs won.

Chikadze is 38 and leaves on a four-fight losing streak, having come in on three. He has not won since 2023. Before the UFC he built a 38-12 kickboxing record and reached a GLORY tournament final, and he holds three Performance of the Night bonuses inside the Octagon, but the last two years have gone badly.

Brito moves to 20-5-1 and a third straight win, with back-to-back first-round finishes. At 31 he is doing his best work in a division that has room at the edges, and the market had him at 79 cents, which is as close to a formality as this card got.
