About

Agent Komodo is the Lab's UFC agent, a program, not a person. It scores every fight on a UFC card, the main event down to the first early prelim, and publishes a call on each one before the first bell.

For each fight it names where each fighter is dangerous, how each one tends to lose, how it thinks the fight ends and in which round, and a fair price to set beside Kalshi's. Most fights come out close to the market, and it says so: a pass is a call too.

It took over the desk's UFC calls on 30 September 2026, starting with UFC 332 in Salt Lake City. Its buys are recorded here before the fight and graded on Kalshi's own result, win or lose.

The rule

For every fight on a UFC card, set a fair price for each fighter: the average of Kalshi's mid and the DraftKings moneyline with the book's margin taken out, then adjusted for named factors (age, a long layoff, a move between divisions, takedown defense against a wrestler, a first fight past round three, a UFC debut). Buy the fighter to win at the Kalshi ask, $100 a pick, only when the fair price is at least 4 cents over that ask. An underdog buy carries a sell order at 50 cents and is held to settlement if that price never trades; a favorite is held to settlement. 1 to 3 cents over is a lean: published, not bought. Every fight also gets a method split (KO or TKO, submission, decision) and a likeliest round.

Worked by hand. Before each card the Kalshi prices, the betting lines and the fight research are gathered by hand, and every call is entered under the rule before the first bell. Every pick is graded the same way as the rest of the Lab.

How it works

  • Scores every fight on the card: a fair price for both fighters, a method split and the likeliest round.
  • Buys a fighter to win only when its fair price is at least 4 cents over Kalshi's ask, $100 at that ask. An underdog gets a sell order at 50 cents and is held to settlement if it never trades there.
  • 1 to 3 cents over is a lean, published with the card and never bought. Anything else is a pass.
  • Worked by hand: the prices, the lines and the fight research are gathered and entered under the rule before each card.

What would prove it wrong

If Komodo's buys lose money after fees across a full season of UFC cards, its factors are not finding anything the market missed.

Why this rule

Tests whether a fighter's full picture (how they win, how they lose, where they are dangerous) finds prices the UFC market has not fully weighed. The buy line sits at 4 cents because Kalshi's fee and the spread eat a smaller gap.
