Boston sat at 55¢ all day. Twenty-three minutes after first pitch it traded at 20¢.
The market had the Red Sox as the favourite from eight in the morning until first pitch and barely moved a cent. Then Cleveland scored once in the top of the second and the price fell through the floor. We bought YES Boston at a 25.27¢ all-in average, $1,000 for a 3,956.19 contract position, with a resting sell at 35¢. This is a live bet. It was placed after the game started, and the case for it is the distance between those two numbers.

The market before first pitch
Kalshi had Boston between 53¢ and 55¢ for the whole trading day. Not a drift, not a slow lean: a flat line from eight in the morning to the first pitch at 6:45 PM ET.

Kalshi hourly candles for KXMLBGAME-26SEP221845CLEBOS-BOS, read Tue, Sep 22, 2026, 4:18 PM PT.1 A price that holds a two cent range across eleven hours is a market with an opinion it is not revising.
That is the number this bet is measured against. Not our estimate of Boston, and not a model. The market's own pre-game price, published and timestamped, is the reference. Everything below is about how far the price moved away from it and how fast.
Fifty-nine to twenty, in twenty-three minutes
Boston traded up first. The Red Sox got through the top of the first and the price went to 58¢ and 59¢, which is what a favourite does when the first inning passes without damage. Then Cleveland put a run on the board in the second and the market did not step down, it fell.

Kalshi one minute candles, same market, same read.1 Our fill is a dollar mode order that swept the book across 7:06 to 7:08, which is why the all-in average of 25.27¢ sits below the 29¢ close of the minute it started in.
The argument is the arithmetic, not the baseball. A one run deficit in the second inning is worth something. The market said it was worth thirty-four cents, from 54¢ to 20¢, on a team that had nine innings and twenty-four outs left to get it back. Boston did not become a different team between 6:45 and 7:08. The price did.
Eight minutes after the low the contract traded at 36¢, above our 35¢ sell order. That is the shape this bet is built on: a price that moves further than the information does, then moves back when the next half inning is uneventful.
The position, and what it needs
$1,000 bought 3,956.19 contracts at a 25.27¢ all-in average. Kalshi’s dollar mode puts the taker fee inside that average, so the cost is the thousand dollars and there is no separate entry fee to add. The break-even is 25.28¢, a hundredth of a cent above the fill.
- Entry25.27¢All-in average, fee inside
- Sell order35¢Resting, set when the bet was placed
- If it fills+$321.65On $1,000, both fees in
- If Boston wins+$2,956.19Settlement, no exit fee
The fallback is to hold. There is no stop, because the position is already sized to a loss we are willing to take in full: if Boston loses, the thousand dollars is gone and nothing about the plan changes that.

What would make this wrong
The one run is not the whole story. A price does not fall thirty-four cents on a solo run in the second. It falls that far when the market is also reading traffic on the bases, a starter who has lost the zone, or a bullpen already warming. The candles record the price, not the reason. If the second inning was worse than the scoreboard said, 25¢ was the fair number and not a discount.
A live price is a moving target. The 20¢ low lasted about a minute. By the time this page went up the contract was back near 27¢, so the entry on this page is not available to anyone reading it. That is the honest limit of a live bet published after the fact, and it is why the pre-game price is on the page: it is the one number a reader can check that did not move.
And the obvious one. Cleveland wins the game. Boston settles at zero, the sell order never trades, and the position loses its full $1,000. A cheap contract is not a safe one; it is a contract the market thinks is probably wrong.
How we treat a live bet
A plan locks before the event starts. A bet entered after the start cannot lock, so it never claims to have. It is tagged Live bet everywhere it appears, it carries the clock and the score at the fill, and it carries the pre-game price so the move it was taken on is visible rather than asserted. It is graded on Kalshi’s own trade history like everything else.
This bet was entered at 7:06 PM ET with the game in the top of the second, Cleveland 1, Boston 0, read from Kalshi’s in-app scoreboard at the fill.
