The Braves are 92-65 and the market wants 70¢ for them, against the Reds at 73-84 and 31¢. At that price you risk 70 cents to make 30, so the question is not whether they are better. It is whether they are better by enough to be worth those odds.

Reading the price

A contract pays $1.00 if that side wins and nothing if it loses, so the price is the crowd’s probability with the house’s cut on top. At 31¢, the crowd says 31% on Reds. At 70¢ it says 70% on Braves.

Those two add to 101%, not 100%. The extra 1 points are the spread between buying and selling, and it is what the market charges to take either side. It is the first thing to subtract before deciding a price is cheap.
