Kalshi · BTC · Friday, Oct 2, 2026 · Plan

Bitcoin sits $3,000 above $81,000 with a week to go. The plan: YES, held to Friday.

Bitcoin was $84,062 on Coinbase when this plan was locked, $3,062 above the line Kalshi settles on next Friday. The market prices that at about 83%. This week’s pick of the week was the other side of a higher line, NO on $87,000, and it settled NO. This one says bitcoin has started a new channel higher and holds it: YES on $81,000 or above at 83¢, held to settlement, on the view that no hourly candle closes below $82,000 next week. It loses if bitcoin gives back about 3.6% and is still there at 2 PM Pacific on Oct 2.

Will bitcoin be at or above $81,000 on Friday, Oct 2?

The market says it probably will. Bitcoin has to be above $80,999.99 on the CF Benchmarks BRTI sixty-second average before 5 PM Eastern on Oct 2 for YES to pay.1 When the plan was locked it was $84,062, $3,062 above the line, and Kalshi had the contract at 82¢ bid and 83¢ ask. The plan is YES at 83¢, locked 4:20 PM PT on September 25 and held to settlement. With Kalshi’s taker fee it costs 83.99¢ a contract, so break-even is 83.99%. Every price on this page moves; what the market does from here goes in Updates.

Why we are on YES

Our read is that bitcoin has broken into a new channel, and the channel points back toward $100,000 by the end of the year. That is a view, not something a chart can prove in advance, and it is the reason for the side we took.

The line we are watching is $82,000, not $81,000. The call is that no hourly candle closes below $82,000 next week. The contract only needs bitcoin above $81,000 at one minute on Friday, so the call is stricter than the bet: if the call is right, the plan is paid with $1,000 of room to spare.

Last week’s version of this call, graded honestly. Last week the view was that bitcoin would not hold above $87,000. It closed one hour above it, at $87,164.81 on Sep 22 between 9 and 10 PM PT, and could not stay there: it settled at $83,880.37 on Friday and the NO paid.4 The call on the line was right. The call on the candle closes was one hour wrong, and we say so.

What would change it. A liquidity sweep under $82,000, a fast run through the stops below the level that snaps back, is the most we expect. If one comes, it is the chance to add at better odds, not a reason to sell. An add would be its own pick, posted with its own time and price, so the record shows exactly when it was taken. An hourly close under $82,000 that does not snap back would mean the read is wrong.

The plan, posted before it settles

  1. Hold to $1.00. A correct settlement pays a dollar a contract with no exit fee. That is 16.01¢ a contract over the all-in cost, or 19.1%.
  2. No sell target. At 83¢ the most a contract can add is 17¢, so a resting sell would give up most of what the plan is for. It is held to the end.
  3. No stop. The risk was fixed when it was locked: 83.99¢ a contract, nothing more. A stop on a week-long binary sells the dip that a thin night or weekend hour can print and then take back.
  4. The fallback is to add, not to sell. A liquidity sweep under $82,000 that snaps back is where more would be bought at better odds. Any add is posted as a separate pick with its own entry, so this one is graded exactly as it was written.

The arithmetic

The plan, per contract and at the $2,000 stake
Kalshi ask at the lock83¢
All-in, Kalshi’s taker fee included83.99¢
Pays if bitcoin is above $81,000$1.00
Profit per contract, held to settle+16.01¢ (+19.1%)
Break-even83.99%
At the $2,000 stake2,381 contracts for $1,999.75
If right / if wrong+$381.25 / −$1,999.75

The fee is Kalshi’s taker formula, 0.07 × contracts × price × (1 − price), rounded up: $23.52 on 2,381 contracts at 83¢.3 Settlement carries no fee. A wrong call loses the whole $1,999.75, which is the honest way to read a 19% upside: you are paid 16¢ to risk 84.

How this is recorded. This is a plan locked at Kalshi’s ask at 4:20 PM PT, and it is graded as written. Kalshi’s public trade data showed no order this size at the time, so no fill is claimed on this page; if one is placed, its average and time go in Updates, dated.

Read this number carefully. It is what the plan would return closed into the current bid this second, Kalshi’s exit fee taken out. It starts negative on every trade, because you buy at the ask and sell at the bid. It is not the grade. The grade is Oct 2 at 2 PM Pacific.

The board puts the coin flip between the $83,500 and $84,000 strikes, right where bitcoin was trading. Our line is the thinnest on it: 70.02 contracts had traded on the $81,000 strike when the plan was locked, against 7,696.57 on $80,000 and 5,575.48 on $82,000. A thin line is priced by its neighbours, which is fine for a plan held to settlement and a reason to be careful with any order that has to fill in a hurry.

What has to happen

Bitcoin has to not give back about 3.6%. From $84,062 to under $81,000 is a 3.64% fall, and it has to be under the line at the 5 PM Eastern settlement minute, not merely touch it on the way.

It has fallen further than that in a week before. Across the 720 hourly Coinbase candles from Aug 27 to Sep 25, the deepest fall from any hourly close to the lowest price over the next seven days was 6.28%: from $81,768.48 on Sep 3 to $76,630.13.2 In the last seven days alone it traded from $80,085 to $87,397.

And it spent most of the month below this line. In 572 of those 720 hours bitcoin traded under $81,000 at some point. The line is only a line because the last week put it underneath. That is the case against, and it is below.

The case against our own plan

  1. The cushion is recent. Bitcoin was under $81,000 for most of the past month. A week that gives back half of the last one puts it there again.
  2. A channel is a read, not a fact. The $100,000 path is our view of the chart. If $82,000 gives way on an hourly close and stays given, the channel was wrong, and the contract has only $1,000 more of room below that.
  3. A week has two weekends in it for a trader, and one is real. Saturday and Sunday trade on thin books while US stocks and the spot ETFs are closed. Our last BTC pick’s deepest dip came at 10 PM Pacific on a weeknight. Why bitcoin moves differently when US stocks are closed
  4. The payoff is lopsided on purpose. 16¢ to win against 84 to lose. At 83.99% break-even, the plan needs bitcoin above the line better than five times in six to be worth it over many weeks.
  5. Settlement is one minute. The BRTI sixty-second average before 2 PM Pacific decides it. A drop into that minute counts even if the week around it was fine.

What actually settles this market

Kalshi’s rule, read September 25: “If the simple average of the sixty seconds of CF Benchmarks’ Bitcoin Real-Time Index (BRTI) before 5 PM EDT is above 80999.99 at 5 PM EDT on Oct 2, 2026, then the market resolves to Yes.” The ticker is KXBTCD-26OCT0217-T80999.99.1

Note the clock. 5 PM Eastern is 2 PM Pacific. Every other time on this site is Pacific; this market is named in Eastern because Kalshi names it that way.

Updates

This plan is open until Oct 2. Every time the market tests it, what happened goes here, newest first, with the time. Nothing above this section is rewritten to match.

  1. Locked

YES on $81,000 or above for Oct 2, locked at the 83¢ ask with a $2,000 stake, 2,381 contracts, held to settlement. Bitcoin $84,062.53 on Coinbase. Kalshi’s public data showed 70.02 contracts traded on this strike in total, so no fill is claimed.

Quick answers

Will bitcoin be at or above $81,000 on Friday, October 2, 2026?
The market says it probably will. At 4:20 PM Pacific on September 25, Kalshi's $81,000-or-above contract for Oct 2 was 82 cents bid and 83 cents ask, about an 83% chance. Bitcoin was $84,062 on Coinbase, $3,062 above the line.
How far would bitcoin have to fall?
About 3.6%, from $84,062 to under $81,000, and it has to be under the line on the CF Benchmarks BRTI sixty-second average before 2 PM Pacific on Oct 2, not just at some point during the week.
What does the plan make if it is right?
At the 83 cent ask, $2,000 buys 2,381 contracts for $1,999.75 with Kalshi's taker fee of $23.52 included, 83.99 cents a contract. Each pays $1.00 at a correct settlement, which returns $2,381: $381.25, or 19.1%, with no fee at settlement.
What settles this market?
The simple average of the sixty seconds of CF Benchmarks' Bitcoin Real-Time Index before 5 PM Eastern on October 2, 2026. Above $80,999.99 resolves YES.
