Almost all of it happened in one hour on Monday afternoon. Golden State closed Sunday night at 82¢ and held 83¢ through Monday morning. Between 1:00 and 2:00 PM PT on Monday it went 83¢ to 89¢. By 8:00 PM Monday it closed 90¢, and from there it never left the 90¢ to 91¢ band again before tip-off.
We can tell you when, not why. Nothing we read explains that hour. There was no injury news in our sources between the two reads and ESPN’s model did not move with it. A six-cent step in a single afternoon on a market this size is usually one participant with a view, and we are not going to invent a reason for it.
