The featherweight prelim went the distance and the judges split it. Two cards came back 29-28 for Michael Aswell Jr., one read 28-29 for JooSang Yoo, and the fight was scored at 5:00 of round three. Nothing was settled early. Aswell was the underdog on the board before the opening bell, and the live market moved against him before it moved back.

Aswell is 25 and fights out of Houston. He came in at 11-5 and on a two-fight losing streak, which is usually the run that puts a roster spot in question. Yoo is 32, from South Korea, and went 8-0 on the Korean regional circuit before he got to the UFC. He arrived at 9-1. He leaves at 9-2, and both of those losses are back to back.

The win moves Aswell to 12-5 and ends the slide. Yoo now carries a second defeat on a record built largely on a perfect regional run, and it came by a single card. CBS listed this bout at middleweight. It was a featherweight fight, three rounds, on the prelims. The honest summary is that the pre-fight price had it close and it was close.
