Eight storylines for Ravens at Browns

Lamar Jackson might be back

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that there is “some hope” Lamar Jackson plays against the Browns after his ankle injury kept him out of the Week 5 win at Atlanta. Jackson hurt the ankle in the 24-18 win over Tennessee, and Rapoport called it an “unconventional ankle sprain.” Coach Jesse Minter said then: “I really don’t think it’s going to be crazy long-term, but we’ll see what happens.” Before the injury Jackson had completed 70.8% of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. NBC Sports · NBC Sports, Oct. 11 · Newsweek · SI Betting

Snoop Huntley’s Sunday night

Tyler Huntley went 24 of 32 for 201 yards and two touchdowns in his start at Atlanta. Baltimore trailed 23-15 late, then Huntley hit Devontez Walker for a 7-yard touchdown with 40 seconds left in regulation and Derrick Henry ran in the tying two-point try. Huntley scored on a 1-yard sneak in overtime, and Kyle Hamilton’s interception ended it 30-23. Huntley came in with 11 career starts in Jackson’s place and a 5-6 record in them. Baltimore is 4-1

The Ravens won 41-23 at Indianapolis, lost 24-17 to New Orleans, won 34-31 at Dallas, beat Tennessee 24-18 and won 30-23 in overtime at Atlanta. They score 29.2 points a game, sixth in the league, and allow 23.8, which ranks 20th. Before the Atlanta game the AP noted Baltimore was chasing its first 4-1 start since 2021. Cleveland lives in close games

The Browns are 3-2 under coach Todd Monken. They lost 34-10 at Jacksonville, then won 23-19 at Tampa Bay, 21-18 over Carolina and 27-24 over Pittsburgh before losing 17-12 at the Jets. Cleveland.com noted that Deshaun Watson had a chance to lead a game-winning drive for the fourth straight week against New York, and the offense came up short twice. Eight sacks in the rain

The Jets sacked Watson eight times, three by David Bailey, and Watson finished 15 of 33 for 155 yards. His 29-yard touchdown to Denzel Boston put Cleveland up 12-10 in the fourth quarter, but Braelon Allen answered with a 22-yard touchdown run with 3:01 left, and Will McDonald strip-sacked Watson on fourth down with 1:41 to go. Monken said: “The ball was wet the whole game.” AP recap via CBS Sports · Cleveland.com via Yahoo

Cleveland’s injury list grew in New York

Receiver KC Concepcion was ruled out after a hit by Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Monken said he assumed Concepcion is in the concussion protocol. Running back Raheim Sanders (hip) and right tackle Tytus Howard (knee) left in the fourth quarter. Defensive tackle Mason Graham (knee) was inactive for the Jets game. Why each side can win

The Ravens

Baltimore scores 29.2 points a game, sixth in the league, and Henry has 476 rushing yards. The Ravens won at Atlanta with Huntley, Jackson may return, and they are 39-15 all time against Cleveland after sweeping the Browns last season.

The Browns

Cleveland is home, and three of its wins came by four points or fewer. Baltimore allows 23.8 points a game, 20th in the league, and was without Trey Hendrickson for two straight games. Boston averages 20.6 yards a catch, and Jackson’s ankle is still a question.

These are the arguments each side’s backers make, not a pick. Pro-Football-Reference Ravens · Pro-Football-Reference Browns · AP recap via CBS Sports · Pro-Football-Reference head-to-head · NBC Sports · ESPN scoreboard (DraftKings)

What the market says

The posted line has Baltimore Ravens favoured by 4.5 on the road, with a total of 40.5. A spread is the market's estimate of the margin, not a result; the Kalshi contract below prices the win outright.

The two venue prices sit at the top of this page and are read live when it loads. A contract settles at $1.00 if that team wins and $0 if it loses, so a price in cents is that market’s implied chance of the win. Prices are the venues’, not our picks, and the two rarely agree to the cent.

A spread and a contract price are two different questions. The spread is the market’s estimate of the margin; the contract prices the win outright, and it is the one you can sell before the game ends. Books differ on the spread itself: our read found two games where a second book had a different number the same afternoon.1

The question on Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns are 3-2 and they are at home, and the line makes them the underdog by 4.5. Decide what chance you would give them, in cents, before you read the board. If your number is above the ask, that is the trade; if it is not, there is no trade here.

The question on Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore Ravens are 4-1 and favoured by 4.5. A favourite contract costs most of a dollar, so the money at risk is large against the money to be made. Work out what you lose if it goes wrong before you decide what you make if it goes right.

Whatever you decide, write the entry, the sell target and the hold rule before kickoff, and remember the fee is largest near 50¢. How the fee works

What is Agent Brad’s parlay for Ravens vs Browns?

How many points is each team priced for in Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns?

Half the total moved half the spread puts Baltimore Ravens at about 22.5 points and Cleveland Browns at about 18. That is arithmetic on the two posted numbers, not a score projection, and it is the figure most fantasy decisions on this game turn on.

How often does each leg of a pick'em entry need to hit to break even?

A pick'em entry is a parlay, so every leg has to land: two legs you price at 60 per cent are 36 per cent together, and three are 22 per cent. If your board pays N times the entry on an L-leg play, the entry needs to win one divided by N of the time, so each leg needs the L-th root of that. A two-leg play paying 3x needs each leg at about 57.7 per cent, and a four-leg play paying 10x needs each at about 56.2 per cent. Multipliers differ by state, board and promotion, so use your own terms.
