Houston Texans are 0-4. Tennessee Titans are 0-4. The posted line has Houston Texans favoured by 7, with a total of 39.5. Kickoff is 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, October 11 at Nissan Stadium, Nashville.
The storyline. Somebody leaves Nashville with a first win. Houston and Tennessee are both 0-4, and the Texans have lost three games by five points or fewer, the last on a Dallas touchdown with 40 seconds left. C.J. Stroud has yet to throw an interception. Cam Ward, the 2025 top pick, now has a rookie receiver in Carnell Tate who just put up 145 yards at Baltimore.
Eight storylines for two winless teams
Two 0-4 teams, and somebody gets off the floor
Houston and Tennessee are both 0-4 after Week 4. The Texans lost 36-31 to Buffalo, 20-6 to Cincinnati, 19-17 at Indianapolis and 34-30 to Dallas. The Titans lost 23-10 to the Jets, 24-20 to Philadelphia, 12-7 at the Giants and 24-18 at Baltimore. Per the Houston Press, the 1992 San Diego Chargers are the only team to make the playoffs after starting 0-4. Sources: PFR · PFR · Houston Press.
Houston keeps losing the last few minutes
Three of the Texans’ four losses came by five points or fewer, and the Houston Press counted the Dallas game as the third time this season Stroud gave his team a fourth-quarter lead. Dallas scored with 40 seconds left on a 12-yard Dak Prescott pass to CeeDee Lamb, who caught 17 balls for 189 yards. Houston was flagged 13 times for 90 yards. DeMeco Ryans put it on his defense: “Today was not a great finish by our team defensively. It was not good enough.” He added, “It’s disappointing that we’ve been in three games that way.” Sources: ProFootballTalk · Houston Press · Covers · Yahoo Sports.
The pressure is real. Ryans has taken Houston to the playoffs in all three of his seasons, and last year the Texans also started 0-3 before finishing 12-5. The Houston Press noted that Bill O’Brien, the last Texans coach to start 0-4, was fired the next day, while saying Ryans faces no immediate threat. Stroud has not thrown a pick, and Nico Collins is back
C.J. Stroud is 93 of 151 for 1,141 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. Nico Collins missed Weeks 2 and 3 with a hamstring injury and returned against Dallas with 7 catches for 118 yards and both of Stroud’s touchdown passes, as Stroud went 21 of 31 for 347. The problem is the ground game: Houston has 316 rushing yards on 90 carries, about 3.5 a carry, and David Montgomery has 127 yards on 47 tries. Sources: PFR · Field Level Media · ProFootballTalk.
Cam Ward, year two, still under fire
Ward went first overall in the 2025 draft and started all 17 games as a rookie: 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns, 7 interceptions and 55 sacks, tied for the league lead. Robert Saleh, hired January 22 with Brian Daboll as his coordinator, said, “You’ve got to remember the young man was sacked however many times last year so I’m sure there’s some PTSD there.” Asked on September 29 whether he would bench Ward, Saleh answered no. After Baltimore he said, “We have the utmost confidence in Cam, we really do.” Through four games Ward is 75 of 119 for 726 yards. Carnell Tate’s breakout, and the fumble
The No. 4 overall pick caught 9 of 12 targets for 145 yards at Baltimore, the most by any Titans player since A.J. Brown’s 145 in December 2021, the most by a Titans rookie since Brown’s 153 in 2019, and the first nine-catch game by a Titans rookie since Kendall Wright in 2012. His targets have gone 6, 5, 9, 12. The day had a cost: Kyle Hamilton stripped him at the Baltimore 35 with 35 seconds left in the half, and the Ravens kicked a 64-yard field goal to go up 24-7. Tate: “You can’t let the last play affect the next play.” Sources: TennesseeTitans.com · A to Z Sports · CBS Baltimore.
Tennessee cannot finish drives
The Titans average 13.8 points a game, 31st in the league, and have 5 turnovers. At Baltimore they ran four straight times from close in and were stopped on fourth-and-goal at the 2; the Ravens answered with a 98-yard touchdown drive. Saleh: “When you get inside the five-yard line, you have to score.” And: “You have to learn how to stop losing first.” Sources: PFR · Yahoo Sports · TennesseeTitans.com.
A tied series that Houston has owned lately
This is the 49th meeting, and the series is 24-24, with a 12-12 split in Tennessee. The Texans have won the last three. Last September in Houston they won 26-0, holding Ward to 10 of 26 for 108 yards and sacking him six times. In November in Nashville, with Stroud in concussion protocol, Davis Mills led a 16-13 win on Matthew Wright’s 35-yard field goal as time expired. Will Anderson against a line missing two guards
Will Anderson Jr. leads Houston with 4.5 of its 14 sacks. Tennessee has 8 as a team, with Jeffery Simmons at 2. The Titans have guards Jackson Slater and Fernando Carmona on injured reserve, so Ward is again working behind a patched interior. The defense is Tennessee’s better half: 20.8 points allowed a game, 9th in the league, against Houston’s 27.3, 26th. Sources: PFR · PFR · ESPN.

What it means for props. Dell is not likely to play, so Houston’s targets stay with Collins, Dalton Schultz (21 catches, 214 yards) and the rest of the current group. If Al-Shaair and Murray both sit, that matters most for Tony Pollard, whose 50-plus rushing yards contract was 47 cents bid, 51 ask on Kalshi on October 7. Tennessee’s two missing guards point the other way, toward Anderson and the Houston pass rush. Final designations come Friday, and inactives post 90 minutes before kickoff.
Players to watch
Weeks 1-4 lines from ESPN box scores, read October 7, 2026. Kalshi prices as read October 7, about 9:06 AM PT.
C.J. Stroud (HOU, QB): 93 of 151, 1,141 yards, 5 TD, 0 INT; 9 carries, 66 yards. Week 4: 21 of 31 for 347 and two touchdowns. His yardage has gone 274, 353, 167, 347, and the 167 came at Indianapolis, where Houston managed 223 total yards.
Nico Collins (HOU, WR): 14 catches, 193 yards on 18 targets in two games. Week 4: 7 for 118 and both of Stroud’s touchdown passes in his return from a hamstring injury. Kalshi had his 70-plus receiving yards at 55 bid, 59 ask and 80-plus at 47, 50.
Cam Ward (TEN, QB): 75 of 119, 726 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT; 13 carries, 57 yards. Week 4: 20 of 31 for 222, his best yardage game, with a touchdown to Wan’Dale Robinson. Houston sacked him six times in last year’s 26-0 game.
Carnell Tate (TEN, WR): 22 catches, 268 yards on 32 targets. Week by week: 38, 27, 58, 145 yards. He has topped 50 in two of four games, and Kalshi had 50-plus at 49 bid, 53 ask, close to a coin flip. Ball security is the thing to watch after the Hamilton strip.
Tony Pollard (TEN, RB): 54 carries, 221 yards; 8 catches, 24 yards. Rushing yards: 35, 64, 74, 48, with his first touchdown at Baltimore, where he was also stopped on fourth-and-goal. Kalshi had 50-plus at 47 bid, 51 ask, and two Houston linebackers are questionable.
Will Anderson Jr. (HOU, DE): 4.5 sacks, the team lead. Houston’s one consistent defensive bright spot, per the Houston Press, now facing a quarterback who took 55 sacks as a rookie and a line with two guards on IR.
Stroud has 1,141 yards and no interceptions, Collins is back, and Houston scored 30 last week. The pass rush has 14 sacks to Tennessee’s 8, and the Texans have won the last three meetings, including a 26-0 shutout of Ward last season. Tennessee’s offense averages 13.8 points, 31st in the league.
The Titans
Tennessee’s defense allows 20.8 points a game, 9th, while Houston’s allows 27.3, 26th. Houston is 0-4 against the spread and Tennessee is 2-2, per SI Betting, and three of the Titans’ losses were by six points or fewer. Houston runs for about 3.5 yards a carry and drew 13 flags last week, and the Titans are home with a rookie receiver who just had 145 yards.

Implied points is half the total moved half the spread, which is arithmetic on the two numbers above, not a projection.
What the market says
The posted line has Houston Texans favoured by 7 on the road, with a total of 39.5. A spread is the market's estimate of the margin, not a result; the Kalshi contract below prices the win outright.
The two venue prices sit at the top of this page and are read live when it loads. A
contract settles at $1.00 if that team wins and $0 if it loses, so a price in cents is
that market’s implied chance of the win. Prices are the venues’, not our picks,
and the two rarely agree to the cent.
A spread and a contract price are two different questions. The spread is the market’s
estimate of the margin; the contract prices the win outright, and it is the one you can sell
before the game ends. Books differ on the spread itself: our read found two games where a
second book had a different number the same afternoon.1

The question on Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans are 0-4 and they are at home, and the line makes them the underdog by 7. Decide what chance you
would give them, in cents, before you read the board. If your number is above the ask,
that is the trade; if it is not, there is no trade here.
The question on Houston Texans
Houston Texans are 0-4 and favoured by 7. A favourite contract costs most of a dollar, so the
money at risk is large against the money to be made. Work out what you lose if it goes
wrong before you decide what you make if it goes right.
Whatever you decide, write the entry, the sell target and the hold rule
before kickoff, and remember the fee is largest near 50¢.

What is Carnell Tate’s receiving yards prop for Texans vs Titans?

How many points is each team priced for in Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans?
Half the total moved half the spread puts Houston Texans at about 23.25 points and Tennessee Titans at about 16.25. That is arithmetic on the two posted numbers, not a score projection, and it is the figure most fantasy decisions on this game turn on.
How often does each leg of a pick'em entry need to hit to break even?
A pick'em entry is a parlay, so every leg has to land: two legs you price at 60 per cent are 36 per cent together, and three are 22 per cent. If your board pays N times the entry on an L-leg play, the entry needs to win one divided by N of the time, so each leg needs the L-th root of that. A two-leg play paying 3x needs each leg at about 57.7 per cent, and a four-leg play paying 10x needs each at about 56.2 per cent. Multipliers differ by state, board and promotion, so use your own terms.
