The price, goal by goal
The ticket’s whole risk was the shootout. Overtime was five minutes of three on three with no goal, and Vegas hovered between 50¢ and 55¢. In the shootout Kirill Marchenko answered Braeden Bowman, and while the next three rounds went by without a goal Vegas to win traded as low as 34¢, the moment the position was worth about $162. Connelly scored in round five, Hill stopped John Tavares, and the market settled YES.

Vegas outshot Toronto 43 to 24 and still needed a shootout, because Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 40 and the Golden Knights went 0 for 4 on the power play, their first game this season without a power-play goal. Toronto won 37 of 62 faceoffs. Eichel’s assist on Stone’s goal stretched his assist and point streaks to five games. It was Vegas’ third straight win, and Vegas leads the season series 1-0. Next: Toronto at Colorado and Los Angeles at Vegas, both Saturday.1
